In just a few short weeks, Marvel's Phase Three sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will start production in Atlanta, with the studio already setting a May 5, 2017 release date. Yesterday, the production held its first full table read, and thanks to writer-director James Gunn, we have some new details about this highly-anticipated sequel. As he often does, the filmmaker took to his Twitter page today, to answer a few questions from the fans, where he revealed that the post-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already been written.

Of course, the filmmaker wouldn't divulge any actual details about this scene, or what upcoming Phase Three movie it may tease. It's possible that this scene may tie into Thor: Ragnarok, which hits theaters a few months after this sequel on November 3, but we don't know for sure. While this is all speculation at this point, it's possible that this post-credits scene could show how Hulk enters the cosmic world in Thor: Ragnarok.

We know that Thor: Ragnarok will feature Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who was last seen taking off in a Quinjet in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Earlier this week, a rumor surfaced that claimed Hulk ended up on a planet called "Sakaar," full of gladiators, where he has become the current champion and is forced to face Thor after he is banished to this land. It's possible that this post-credits scene could show us how Hulk winds up on Sakaar after his journey on the Quinjet. As of now, this is only a theory, but it's an interesting possibility to consider.

James Gunn also revealed that a full cast list will be announced soon, and that only one line in the script was changed during the table read. As of now, the only new cast member who has been confirmed is Pom Klementieff, rumored to be playing Mantis. The Guardians of the Galaxy themselves, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) are all set to reprise their roles from the original blockbuster.

There has also been a rumor that Kurt Russell is in talks to play Star-Lord's father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but his casting has not been confirmed. James Gunn has said in the past that the sequel will reveal who Star-Lord's father is, and while he wouldn't confirm that character's identity, he did say that it wouldn't be the same character from the comics, J'son. Kurt Russell did confirm that he was approached to star in the sequel, but he has to watch the original movie first and read the script for the sequel before he decides. It isn't known if Kurt Russell himself was actually present at the table read, but we'll have to wait and see if his casting is confirmed soon. Take a look at James Gunn's tweets below, and stay tuned for more on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
