Earlier today, we showed you the first photos from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, shared by writer-director James Gunn himself. The photos feature the director rehearsing with stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista and the director's brother Sean Gunn, who plays the on-set version of Rocket Raccoon. Chris Pratt also took to his Instagram page earlier today, to showcase his now-iconic Sony Walkman, which has the cassette tape of Awesome Mix Vol. 2. Here's what the actor had to say to his social media followers, revealing how "ecstatic" he is to be back on set.

"Feels good to be back in action on Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2!!! I can't even tell you how excited I am. Ok I'll try. I'm ecstatic. I'm bursting with joy. I'm overwhelmed by feelings of enthusiasm, joy, gratitude, conviviality, camaraderie, elation, exhilaration. I just used an online thesaurus for these words. I suggest trying that. That way instead of saying 'I'm very excited' say, 'I'm exhilarated.' Never too late to learn words. The pen is mightier than the sword. I never got that. I could whoop someone's ass if I had a sword and they only had a pen. WAIT!!! Now I get it. Cause you could use a giant pen with a dagger on one end? And a gun on the other end? No? Whatever. Point is... Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Is going to be the greatest spectacle film of all time. This is not.... bear with me... using online thesaurus..... Hyperbole! This is not hyperbole!"

This isn't the first time that Chris Pratt has made a bold statement about this upcoming superhero sequel. The actor revealed in June, just after reading writer-director James Gunn's script, that the story is "remarkable" and that it "brought tears to my eyes." Of course, he wouldn't shed light on any specific story elements, then or now, but this sequel is already shaping up to be one incredible adventure. One of the few things we do know for sure about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is that we'll learn who Star-Lord's father is.

Last week, James Gunn teased that he has cast both the villain and Star-Lord's dad in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but he wouldn't reveal which actors have landed those roles yet. Interestingly enough, just one month earlier, an unconfirmed report circulated that Kurt Russell was being eyed to play Star-Lord's father, but his exact character was not revealed. As of now, the only new cast member is Pom Klementieff, who has been rumored to play Mantis.

As for the Awesome Mix Volume 2 goes, the writer-director confirmed in an impromptu Twitter Q&A last week that the Volume 1 song "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell is actually the first song on Volume 2, followed by another Volume 1 song, Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." It isn't known how many songs are on this mix this time around, and what new songs will be included. While we wait for more details on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, take a look at Chris Pratt's Instagram photo below, featuring his beloved Walkman.
