One of the most talked-about panels of this year's Comic-Con was the Marvel Studios presentation, where several revelations were made. The studio showcased the first full trailer for Doctor Strange, along with footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, although nothing except the Doctor Strange trailer was released online afterwards. The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 trailer and clips gave a few select fans a first look at Sylvester Stallone's mysterious character. Although we don't know exactly who he's playing yet, director James Gunn offered some important details following the big reveal

After the Hall H panel, CinemaBlend caught up with James Gunn, and asked him about Sylvester Stallone's mysterious character. Based on the costume he was seen wearing in the footage, some claimed he could be one of the new Ravagers, while others believe he's a Nova Corps member. Of course, the director wouldn't reveal this character's exact identity, but he did tease that Sylvester Stallone has an important role in this story.

"It's a very, very key, important role. It's not a huge role. He's a great and key supporting actor."

We first heard about Sylvester Stallone's potential involvement in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 back in March, when he was spotted leaving the same hotel that the cast of this Marvel sequel was staying in, while holding a script. Shortly after he was first spotted, a report from the set claimed that his costume looked quite similar to that of his 1995 character Judge Dredd, but since Marvel doesn't have the rights to Judge Dredd, we know he's not playing that character. Even though this character wasn't revealed during the Con, there was one huge revelation in Hall H on Saturday.

The audience in Hall H was shown two clips from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which just wrapped last month, along with a trailer. At the end of the trailer, Kurt Russell's mysterious character is seen coming out of a massive space pod. When Chris Pratt's Star-Lord asks who he is, this mystery character replies, "I thought my good looks would make it obvious. My name is Ego. And I'm your dad." Many had speculated that Kurt Russell would be playing Star-Lord's dad, but no one thought that his dad would be Ego The Living Planet, portrayed in the comics as a massive planet. The footage revealed that Ego designed a human form for himself. This leads Drax to ask "Did you make a penis?" which mortifies Star-Lord. Ego responds by saying, "I sure did... it's not bad either."

Yesterday, we got to see the full Ego costume that Kurt Russell wears in the movie. Director James Gunn said shortly before the convention that those who weren't in Hall H would get to see this footage online in the near future, teasing that new anti-piracy technology would prevent any online leaks. While we don't know for sure what technology was in place this year, none of the footage has leaked yet. We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as this footage from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 becomes available.
