As promised, Marvel and Disney XD have continued to reveal more cast members for their Guardians of the Galaxy TV series throughout the week, with Vanessa Marshall signing on to voice Gamora and James Arnold Taylor taking on the dual role of both Yondu and Cosmo. In last year's live-action blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora was played by Zoe Saldana, while Michael Rooker played Yondu. They join previously-announced cast members Kevin Michael Richardson (Groot), Trevor Devall (Rocket Raccoon), Will Friedle (Star-Lord) and David Sobolov (Drax the Destroyer).
The series stars Peter Quill as Star-Lord, the brash adventurer who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits - fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon, a tree-like humanoid named Groot, the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora and the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer. The Marvel Animation series is executive produced by Alan Fine (Marvel's The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor), Dan Buckley (Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.), Joe Quesada (Avengers Assemble) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Vanessa Marshall is best known for voicing the pilot Hera in another Disney XD animated series, Star Wars Rebels. She is also well-versed in the Marvel universe, voicing Mary Jane in The Spectacular Spider-Man and Black Widow in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, along with the DC character Black Canary in Young Justice. James Arnold Taylor is best known for voicing Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a role he reprised in one episode of Star Wars Rebels. He has also voiced The Flash in Young Justice and The Leader in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.. Which character do you hope is announced tomorrow?
