Director James Gunn is a master at manipulating social media for his own agenda, giving fans just enough information to keep them satiated while not revealing anything that is too spoilery. He has once again taken to his personal Twitter page to give an update on the movie. And the most revealing piece of intel is the fact that he has, in fact, cast Star-Lord's Dad in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And he has cast the main villain.

That said, he does not reveal the identity of either actor. Which all of a sudden seems to be the new norm when it comes to Marvel casting over the past week. It was earlier revealed that Danny Rand has been cast in the upcoming Netflix series Iron Fist. But the studio has not revealed the identity of that actor either. When will the new faces behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 be revealed? We're not sure.

James Gunn has a lot to say in his most recent update. But none of it is too revelatory. He does reveal that he has discussed Avengers: Infinity War with the Russo Bros. on several occasions. He goes onto reiterate the same thing he's often said about Star-Lord's dad, that he is definitely not the same character from the comics. And he confirms that Marvel has not given him a single budgetary restriction as he gears up to shoot Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 later this year.

While the director has said in the past that he loves working with Candice Patton, he won't confirm whether or not The Flash star has landed a role in his prequel. He also reveals that it took almost exactly a year to write and finalize the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 script. He then goes onto say it's possible he could direct more Marvel movies, but they definitely won't be Captain Marvel or Inhumans.

James Gunn also talks about the soundtrack, confirming that Tyler Bates is scoring the sequel, and has already turned in the first cues, which are, of course, awesome. He also says that 'Aint No Mountain' is the first song on the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 and that 'I Want You Back' is the second song. You can read the rest of James Gunn's tweets below.

So, who do you think has been cast as Star-Lord's father and the main villain? Did Kurt Russell, who was being sought, finally accept his offer? We have no idea who these characters are yet, but that will all be revealed in good time. So, what do you think? Are you more excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now than you were before? Let's kick things off with the director and his team at dinner.
