Earlier in the week, director James Gunn confirmed that the first official trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was coming soon. And boy, he wasn't kidding. In a surprise announcement on ESPN 2 last night, a new teaser arrived announcing that the world premiere of the trailer will debut tonight, Saturday, December 3. One enterprising fan was able to catch the teaser in full and has shared it on Twitter. Here's when and where the Guardians 2 trailer drops.

"See the exclusive trailer premiere for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Tune into the Dr. Pepper Acc Championship Game on ABC at 8:00pm/ET"

This quick tease is only a few seconds long. And it recycles footage from what was believed to be the 'first' trailer but has since been called a 'sneak preview' by Marvel and Disney. As you can see, we are treated to one new shot in this latest tease. It finds Drax taking on a deadly space creature head on.

This big monster was teased in early concept art that launched around the time of Comic-Con. The tentacled monster in question has been compared to the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi that consumed Boba Fett in one bite. This is just a small taste of what's to come in a few hours.

When James Gunn announced earlier in the week that a teaser was coming, he did confirm that there will be new footage. But there won't be much. Nothing from the story will be revealed. And it will be another teaser in every sense of the word. He explains.

"We were talking about how much to give away - and we're not going to give away very much. You can show all sorts of stuff happening and it doesn't really give away who lives, who dies, what the outcome is, what the mystery is. With Guardians, it's such an emotional and physical journey, going to all these different places. It's like, 'God, do I really want to show this planet we go to in the middle of the movie? ... Those are always hard choices to make."

James Gunn went through somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster with the trailer for the first movie. It wasn't yet known how the public would respond to the movie, and it was a tough sale. It didn't help that Marvel was at the top of their game at the time, and many suspected, or even wanted, the original 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy to be a flop. It certainly wasn't, but there was a lot of worry showing off the initial footage to the public. Says Gunn.

"That trailer tested not very well. We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was - that tested a little better. And at the end of the day, the [marketing] guys were like, 'This is what the movie is. We are selling what the movie is. Not something else.' You've got to sell the movie for what it is, and that's what they did. They really bought my trust with that on the first movie."

The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast is lead by Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel as Groot. New cast members include Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet, Star-Lord's father, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Chris Sullivan as Taserface and Tommy Flanagan as Tullk.
