Marvel is well-known for its post-credit scenes, a tradition ever since the first Iron Man debuted in 2008. But one of the most popular of these 'cookies' may be the Guardians of the Galaxy sequence that featured the surprise appearance of Howard the Duck, nearly 30 years after the 1985 Howard the Duck movie debuted. The appearance was so popular that there was even talk of a Howard the Duck movie, but that hasn't been announced. During a recent convention appearance, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista teased that Howard the Duck may actually return in Vol. 2.

ComicBook.com was in attendance at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta, where Dave Bautista teased that another Howard the Duck appearance was in the cards. As of now, Howard the Duck's appearance has not been confirmed, but, according to Dave Bautista, writer-director James Gunn may bring him back. Here's what the actor had to say.

"As long as there's a James Gunn directing the film, there's a possibility of a Howard the Duck."

Last year, George Lucas said he had a feeling Marvel was going to give Howard the Duck a reboot, since the technology has improved so much in the past 30 years. Marvel has yet to confirm that a Howard the Duck movie is in the works, but given how popular his brief cameo was, it wouldn't be surprising to see Marvel developing a new movie based on teh talking mallard. Seth Green provided the voice of Howard the Duck in the Guardians of the Galaxy end credits sequence, but it remains to be seen if he would be asked back if a remake actually happened.

Shortly after the release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, James Gunn himself hinted in an interview with Empire Magazine that "it's possible" Howard the Duck could return in one of the future Marvel movies. However, the chances of the character getting his own movie over the next four years, during Marvel's Phase 3 lineup, are very slim. He did hint that it may be possible for Marvel Phase 4, but the studio hasn't confirmed any of their movies for that lineup quite yet. The studio has set dates for May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020 and November 6, 2020, but the studio hasn't announced what movies will be taking those dates. It's also worth noting that reshoots recently started for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so it's possible that Howard the Duck scenes may be worked into these additional scenes.
