Way back in October, fans got their first look at test footage for an all new Guardians of the Galaxy animated TV series, which will be released sometime this year on Disney XD. We haven't heard anything about the project since then, but today the official Twitter accounts for Marvel and The Disney Channel revealed the first two voice cast members. Kevin Michael Richardson has signed to provide the voice for Groot, with Trevor Devall voicing Rocket Raccoon.

The series stars Peter Quill as Star-Lord, the brash adventurer who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits - fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon, a tree-like humanoid named Groot, the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora and the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer. The series will premiere in 2015 on the Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD. Produced by Marvel Animation, the series' award-winning creative team includes executive producers Alan Fine (Marvel's The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor), Dan Buckley (Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.), Joe Quesada (Avengers Assemble) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

Marvel revealed earlier today that voice cast announcements for the Guardians of the Galaxy series will be made all week, through both the @Marvel and @DisneyChannelPR Twitter handles, so stay tuned for more casting updates throughout the week. In the meantime, you can take a look at brief videos featuring both of the new voice cast members from Disney XD's Guardians of the Galaxy.
