Did Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista have instant chemistry when they first met to audition for Guardians of the Galaxy? We get a taste of what went down that fateful day in a new video courtesy of Yahoo! Movies. Both actors are seen in make shift costumes as they recite a passage of dialogue from the script. This sneak peek is part of the massive Marvel Phase 2 Blu-ray collection that is hitting stores this month in time for the holiday shopping season.

Before it arrived in theaters in the summer of 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy was seen as the riskiest movie in Marvel's line-up yet. But it went onto become a blockbuster hit that connected with mainstream audiences and longtime comic book fans alike. Now, in this new video, we get to see the early stages of how it all came together. It's a neat piece of history that shows us how Star-Lord and Drax the Destroyer first began to take shape for the screen.

Chris Pratt is wearing what appears to be a Star-Lord costume thrown together with whatever the wardrobe department could find at the time. Dave Bautista, on the other hand, is covered in grey make-up, and is not wearing the full prosthetics that will eventually perfect the character for all his scene stealing glory. But we get a descent idea of what these two goofballs will look like when they go in front of the camera. And as you can see, this audition gives off just the right vibe and tone. There's no question why these two were chosen.

In this scene, Peter Quill is convincing Drax not to kill Gamora. They are speaking quietly, almost at a whisper, as if they are not meant to be heard by whoever might be close by. It's suspected that the scene originally had these two trying to keep a low profile. Probably to avoid capture by prison guards. In the finished scene, they are speaking at an audible volume, and it is revealed that the prison guards don't really care what the prisoners are doing or saying to one another. That change actually helps in the long run, and allowed the two actors to carry the full weight of their lines in the final cut.

Also, you get a sense here at how some of the dialogue in the movie was tightened up from earlier drafts of the screenplay. It also seems likely that Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista are still in the process of memorizing their lines and finding these two Marvel characters. We've included the original scene below the embed so you get a sense of how the scene evolved throughout this process.

The Guardians of the Galaxy audition is just one of many exciting things included in the massive Marvel Phase 2 Blu-ray collection, which arrives on December 8th.
