Marvel Studios' Phase 3 lineup is absolutely packed with movies, including plenty of sequels and new characters like Doctor Strange finally making their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the sequels that pretty much everyone is most looking forward to is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but many are still wondering if they are going to meet up with the rest of their hero counterparts in Avengers: Infinity War. If Vin Diesel is to be believed, we no longer have to wonder, because according to him, it is definitely going to happen.

In a recent Facebook live stream on his personal page, Diesel spoke to his 100 million plus followers about a lot of his upcoming projects and goings on. He thanked his fans for their constant support, hyped his upcoming return as Xander Cage in the appropriately titled XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, but perhaps most importantly, he talked about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and dropped the bomb that Groot and the gang are indeed going to help fight Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Here is what he had to say.

"Next year you've got Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 coming and that whole concept started from you all saying 'when are you gonna be in a Marvel movie?' And you remember the first picture after that Marvel meeting that I had where I was standing [with] the Avengers thing in the back - some of you can look up that picture...there was this old Avengers copy that was behind me in that picture if you look back on my Facebook page you can find that. What's gonna be surreal is that picture is going to come to pass because now the Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that's incredibly exciting. Incredibly exciting. Incredibly exciting and something that if you were a part of our page you knew before everybody."

The picture that Diesel is referring to was posted to his Facebook page back in 2013, and featured him standing in front of a framed poster featuring the cover of Avengers #2. The cast has not been totally confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War yet, but many of the Earthbound Avengers were pretty much a certainty. Many had speculated and hoped that the Guardians of the Galaxy would be included in the surely massive cast, and now thanks to Diesel, that looks to be the case. Given the massive following that Diesel has on his page, it isn't all that surprising that Marvel Studios let him break the news.

When Marvel first announced their Phase 3 slate back in 2014, the movies were announced as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2. However, back in May Joe Russo confirmed that the titles would change, and recently it was revealed that it would no longer be a Part 1 and Part 2 situation. Both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4 will be shooting back-to-back starting this November, with the shoot expected to last over nine months. We don't know much in terms of specific plot, but we do know that the Guardians will be involved, and that Thanos will finally be involved in a big way after being teased for a very long time.

It is unclear if the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in just Avengers: Infinity War, or if they will also be included in Avengers 4. The Russo brothers have stated that the movies will have connective tissue, but will be very different, so it is hard to say. In any case, fans can get excited knowing that in the relatively near future, they will get to see Groot, Rocket, Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax and Gamora doing battle with Iron Man and Captain America. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release on May 5, 2017. Avengers: Infinity War is due out on May 4, 2018, with Avengers 4 set to follow on May 3, 2019.
