Marvel is keeping up with the Guardians of the Galaxy goodness this week. They recently uploaded the first official teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which got fans tremendously excited for the movie, as if they weren't already. The only problem is that the movie doesn't come out for six months. So to help get fans by in the meantime, they have released a delightful Funko short that features Rocket Raccoon and Groot.

Marvel recently uploaded the video online, to both YouTube and Twitter, which shows Rocket Raccoon having to save his pal Groot from The Collector. The short is all done in the style of Funko, utilizing the character designs from the Guardians of the Galaxy Funko Pop! Figures. The short clearly takes place in a world following the events of the first Guardians of the Galaxy but before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, because Groot is still in his little pot and isn't yet the full-on Baby Groot that the internet fell in love with in the new trailer that was just released.

The Marvel Funko short, titled "Bait N Switch," sees Groot locked up in The Collector's facility and his buddy Rocket Raccoon is forced to come to the rescue. Sadly, Rocket doesn't bust out any of his trademark weapons, but he does do some fun, Looney Tunes style sleuthing, which is really enjoyable. His buddy Star-Lord even makes an appearance (sort of). In the first Guardians of the Galaxy, The Collector (played by Benicio Del Toro) expressed interest in adding Groot to his collection and in this short, it appears that he got his wish when Groot was much more vulnerable. As we have seen, Groot is quite formidable when he is full grown.

Unfortunately, this short doesn't give fans a new adventure with the entire Guardians crew, but it does give a little bit of an idea what a Groot/Rocket spinoff movie could look like. Recently, Vin Diesel teased in an interview with Screen Junkies that if James Gunn had his way, the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie after Avengers: Infinity War would actually be a Groot and Rocket Raccoon movie. Here is what he had to say.

"That's an interesting question! I think if it's up to James Gunn, you are going to see a Groot/Rocket movie after [Avengers] Infinity War, I think that's highly possible. We shall see! I know that somewhere in the universe, you are going to see Groot and Hulk battle. You can write it somewhere, you are going to see that poster: Hulk Vs Groot!"

Before that can happen, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has to come out, which will happen on May 5, 2017. For now, this Marvel Funko short will have to do, but it is a very nice placeholder until the movie arrives. Be sure to check out "Bait N Switch" for yourself below.
