Earlier today, we reported that Kevin Feige showed off a two-minute sizzle reel of Avengers: Age of Ultron for fans at a London preview event for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The producer also took part in a 20-minute Q&A session where he shed new light on the Guardians of the Galaxy production process.

The producer started off by describing how the movie wouldn't have come to be if it weren't for an unheralded writer named Nicole Perlman, who was a part of Marvel's writer's program. While Guardians of the Galaxy was always internally discussed, it wasn't until Kevin Feige saw her early draft for Guardians of the Galaxy that he realized this could be one of their next big adventures.

Take a look at the lengthy Q&A below to learn much more about Guardians of the Galaxy before it hits theaters on August 1.

An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits-Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand-with the galaxy's fate in the balance.
