Is Lady Gaga going to play Lady Lylla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? According to a new rumor, she is, which seems like it works almost too well. Lady Lylla is a sentient otter in the Guardians comics and the soulmate of Rocket Raccoon, who is conveniently voiced by Bradley Cooper. The popstar and Cooper recently starred in the massively successful A Star is Born and fans have been wanting them to reunite for a new project. A furry romance might be the way to make that happen.
James Gunn has officially stated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will have more of Rocket's story in it, so a love interest does make sense. Rocket's story is the saddest to the director, who says he can see a bit of himself in the character. Gunn also said Rocket's story is not finished, which lines up with rumors of Rocket's creator The High Evolutionary being involved. As for who could be playing that role, Mark Hamill's name has come up more than once.
As for Lady Lylla, she was first introduced in 1982's Incredible Hulk #271 during the Toy War. She is the heiress to the largest toymaking empire Mayhem Mekaniks, which is located on the planet Halfworld. It will be interesting to see if James Gunn decides to go down this route for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The story makes sense and lines up with the previous reports about the sequel, but will Lady Gaga actually be the voice for the otter?
Things start to get a bit complicated when talking about Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Gossip pages have been putting them together as a couple for months and Cooper's recent divorce doesn't help those rumors at all. With that being said, this Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 rumor may stem from those potential romantic allegations, which means this could all be some fan fiction. However, looking at it from an on screen angle, the two obviously have a great chemistry and Lady Gaga would be a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even if it's for a voice role.
James Gunn is preparing to start work on The Suicide Squad this fall, so it's going to be a while before we get any concrete Guardians of the Galaxy 3 news. But Lady Gaga as Lady Lylla does make a lot of sense. We'll just have to wait and see which direction James Gunn has decided to take the final movie in the trilogy. We do know that he was immensely proud of the screenplay when he finished it and that it will put a lot of focus on Bradley Cooper's heavily underrated Rocket Raccoon. The Lady Gaga Guardians of the Galaxy news was first reported by the Film Updates Twitter account.
