In a story from Variety, Gus Van Sant and author Bret Easton Ellis are going to write a screenplay about Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake. These were two people who ended their lives in a double suicide.

The screenplay will be based on the Vanity Fair article "The Golden Suicides" from writer Nancy Jo Sales.

Duncan and Blake were a popular couple in "the downtown New York and Venice, Calif., art scenes." She was one of the first videogame designers for girls, and his digital paintings -- kaleidoscopic images shown on plasma screens -- established him as a rising star on the circuit."

Things got bad for them when they started to believe that the government and religious organizations were conspiring against them. Duncan killed herself in 2007. Blake then found her body and subsequently walked into the Atlantic Ocean one week later.
