We reported in May that Robert Downey Jr. is coming back for The Avengers: Age of Ultron as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man), even though he will not be back for any stand-alone Iron Man sequels in the near future.

Tony's girlfriend Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, however, will not likely be a part of this Marvel Phase Two sequel. Here's what the actress had to say in a recent interview, where she revealed she didn't even know what the title to this sequel was.

"I don't think so. Nobody has asked me. What is it called? Age of Ultron? Okay. Well, no, I don't think [I'll be in it]. I haven't heard any...my phone has not rung for Avengers 2."

The actress was also asked if she would be interested in doing a stand-alone movie as her comic book alter ego Rescue.

"That would be good. That would be fun."

So, Pepper Potts won't be in The Avengers: Age of Ultron? if you're genuinely concerned, let's /the-avengers-wont-star-gwyneth-paltrow-as-pepper-potts/rewind all the way back to December 12, 2010, when the actress said almost the exact same thing about Marvel's The Avengers. She said nearly the identical sentence about not appearing in the first movie.

"I think it's a for sure. I think they're starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now."

As we all now, Pepper Potts did appear in Marvel's The Avengers! So, she's either really good at keeping movie secrets, or she always gets a call at the last minute. We think she'll be in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, because she is integral to the Tony Stark storyline more than ever. Even if its just for a few minutes.

Gwyneth Paltrow will next be seen in Thanks for Sharing, arriving in theaters September 20. If she, in fact, isn't coming back as Pepper Potts in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and there are no stand-alone Iron Man movies on the horizon, the actress' final turn as Pepper Potts was likely in this summer's Iron Man 3, which debuts on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD September 24.
