Acclaimed director Thomas Alfredson, the man behind Let the Right One in, has hand picked Gwyneth Paltrow to star in The Danish Girl. According to Variety, she will be appearing alongside Nicole Kidman in this transsexual drama.

The script, which was written by Lucinda Coxon, will center on the real life story of Danish artists Einar (Kidman) and Greta Wegener (Paltrow). Playing a man, Kidman's Einar stood in for a female subject that his wife was set to paint. Once this work of art became wildly popular, Einar was encouraged to adopt his female guise, which eventually led him to becoming the first transsexual in a landmark 1931 operation that shocked the world.

The film is set for release in 2011.
