Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) has signed on to star in the indie comedy Barely Lethal for RKO Pictures.

The story centers on a girl named Megan (Hailee Steinfeld), who is raised at a boarding school that trains young assassins. When she relocates to another town and attends a regular high school, she realizes that the pressures of everyday teenage life is just as hard to deal with.

Kyle Newman (Fanboys) is directing from a screenplay by John D'Arco. Brett Ratner is producing through his Rat Entertainment company, alongside John Cheng and Hopscotch Pictures' Sukee Chew. No production schedule has been given.

Hailee Steinfeld, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in True Grit, will next be seen in Romeo and Juliet, Can a Song Save Your Life?, and Ender's Game.
