The beat goes on this holiday season! Grab your dancing shoes as Hairspray, one of the most well-reviewed movies of the year, arrives in a two-disc "Shake and Shimmy" Edition DVD with reversible packaging on November 20, 2007, from New Line Home Entertainment. Also available day-and-date on Blu-ray disc and an upcoming HD DVD edition, the film is based on John Waters' contemporary classic film and the subsequent Broadway musical about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show. Directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman (Bringing Down the House, The Pacifier), the movie boasts a remarkable ensemble cast including John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron, Brittany Snow, James Marsden, Elijah Kelley, Allison Janney and newcomer Nikki Blonsky.

Available at a $39.98 SRP on Blu-ray Disc and the forthcoming HD DVD, and a $34.99 SRP for the fully-loaded, two-disc "Shake and Shimmy" Edition, the DVD contains a jukebox of toe-tapping, never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes bonus features including an all new musical number ("I Can Wait"), a "You Can't Stop the Beat" documentary, a "HairsprayExtensions" featurette offering dance breakdowns, audio commentaries, deleted scenes and more. A single-disc DVD will also be available at a $28.98 SRP. The order due date is October 16, 2007.

The Hairspray two-disc "Shake and Shimmy" Edition DVD also rounds out a deluxe gift set, featuring a metal school locker that can be personalized and decorated with custom photos and stickers as well as an exclusive Hairspray tote bag. The locker is available in either "Penny Pink" or "Link Lime," and the gift set is marked at a $59.76 SRP.

Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion - dancing. Her dream to appear on Baltimore's hippest TV dance show seems a natural fit except for one not-so-little problem - her plus-sized figure. However, Tracy wins a spot on the show and becomes an instant on-air sensation, much to the chagrin of the show's reigning princess, Amber. The audience loves the new girl in town, and soon, so does Amber's boyfriend. The dance party gets personal as a bitter feud erupts between the girls as they compete for the coveted "Miss Teenage Hairspray" crown.

Meanwhile, at school, a short stint in detention opens Tracy's eyes to bigger issues than just the latest dance craze - racial inequality. She leads a march to fight for integration and winds up with an arrest warrant instead. Forced to hide, she will have to decide if she should stay underground and forfeit her title or sing and dance her way out of trouble. When big hair meets big dreams anything can happen - and does - in this high-energy comedy that proves you don't have to fit in to win.
