Actress Halle Berry recently appeared at a 42nd NAACP Image Awards screening for her upcoming multiple personality drama Frankie & Alice, where she revealed that she is starring in Cloud Atlas. Here's an excerpt from her Q&A session along with the video:
"I'm going to do a movie probably in the summer with the Wachowski's. It's not brothers anymore, but the Wachowski's. A really interesting movie. Sort of like what they did with The Matrix. They have another really amazing idea that's sort of gonna stretch our brains even further. And so I'm really excited about that and that's probably gonna be in the summer. And that's with Tom Hanks and Natalie Portman."
The news falls in line with a story from back in June, where it was reported that Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen and James McAvoy were starring in Cloud Atlas, although Ian McKellen and James McAvoy's names
NataliePortman.com also reveals that Natalie Portman's deal isn't completed yet, although it's, "looking more and more likely." Here's a description from the David Mitchell book the movie is based on from our earlier story:
"Cloud Atlas intertwines history, science, suspense, humor and pathos through six separate but loosely related narratives. Each of theses narratives takes place in a different time and place, each is written in a very different prose style, and each is broken off mid-action and brought to conclusion in the second half of the book."
Tom Tykwer wrote the script based off David Mitchell's book. It is still not completely clear if Tom Tykwer is directing or if Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski are directing. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the development of Cloud Atlas as soon as we have more information.
