A new image from Halloween Ends offers a sinister look at the return of Michael Myers. Released courtesy of Fandango, the image drapes Myers in darkness once again with the unmistakable white mask standing out amid the shadow. Halloween Ends will land in theaters later this year, and promises to bring the battle between The Shape and Laurie Strode to an end. Only one of them will survive.

Halloween Ends will begin with a time jump, picking up four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills. Laurie is now living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers meanwhile has not been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life.

But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.

Directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier, Halloween Ends sees Jamie Lee Curtis reprise the role of Laurie Strode, the sole survivor of Michael Myers' 1978 killing spree, for what will be the eighth and final time. The finale also finds both Halloween 2018 star James Jude Courtney and Halloween alumni Nick Castle reprising the role of Michael Myers aka The Shape.

The rest of the supporting cast includes Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Kyle Richards, all of whom reprise their roles from previous installments.

Halloween Ends Will Wrap Up the Trilogy in Surprising Ways

As you can no doubt ascertain from the title, Halloween Ends will bring the latest Halloween trilogy to its conclusion. While we don’t yet know what that will entail, star Nick Castle has teased some surprising twists and turns along the way.

"I think there might be more because of all the success of [this trilogy], but [Green] will have a very surprising storyline, an ending for everyone,” Castle said back in April. “It's absolutely something I don't think you would have ever guessed in terms of the way it's going to unroll."

However, just because this legacy sequel trilogy is coming to an end, it does not mean we will have seen the last of Michael Myers. "I didn't expect there to be a sequel [to Halloween ‘78],” Halloween creator John Carpenter said recently. “The movie business is ruled by money. [The first] Halloween made so much money, here they came again, the same guys [saying], 'Hey John, let's do another one.' I guarantee you if Halloween Ends makes a lot of money, guess what? Just guess what."

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022, by Universal Pictures. It has now been announced that the horror sequel will also stream simultaneously on paid tiers of Peacock for 60 days.
