The final chapter in the story of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers is coming this fall, and the first trailer for Halloween Ends has given a first look at the supposed end of the Halloween saga … for now at least. Once again starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie, the main plot of the movie is under wraps, but the follow-up to Halloween Kills, which also completes David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy. Check out the trailer below.

Having ended with Michael having seemingly stabbed and killed Laurie’s daughter at the end of Halloween Kills, the new movie is expected to feature a three-year time jump that will move the story on from those final scenes. Other returning stars are Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle as Myers, Will Patton as Deputy Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and Omar Dorsey as Sheriff Barker.

Filming on Halloween Ends wrapped earlier this year, and the movie is having a quick turnaround ahead of its October 14, 2022 release. Having originally teased footage at April’s CinemaCon, it was hinted earlier this week that the trailer was about to drop, and with fans of the franchise eager to see the final part of the story play out, the trailer is just enough of a tease to get them by for now.

Halloween Ends is the End of an Era for Jamie Lee Curtis

Halloween Ends

Having appeared in the first two Halloween movies, which seemed to tell a complete story of Laurie and her then brother Michael, Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the franchise again in Halloween: H20 and its sequel, Halloween Resurrection. However, returning for the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy retconned everything other than John Carpenter’s original movie, removed the family connection between Laurie and Michael and created a whole new story around the characters.

In a recent interview, Curtis explained that returning to the franchise this time has allowed fans to see the “final girl” grow up. She said:

"I've just finished it, you know? I just three weeks ago finished shooting the last shot of Laurie Strode. It was deeply emotional and cathartic. Everything you just said is what happens. I mean, when you call her a final girl — I never really understood how important that name was until I made this last movie. And now I really understand it. And I think you'll be very happy."

While this is the final chapter in the new trilogy, and seemingly in the story of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie, that doesn’t mean Michael Myers will be slipping into the darkness forever. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum has already set expectations for more slashing from Michael sometime in the future, just not under Blumhouse’s production. He said, “"I didn't say it's gonna be the last Halloween movie. It's our last Halloween movie. We have no more rights to make any more Halloween, so it goes back to Malek [Akkad] and what he does, only he knows, but we are done. This is our last one, and I think people will be very happy."
