Music from the Movies reports that composer Hans Zimmer (Gladiator) will compose the original scores for the two upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and the yet to be titled Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

The film's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, has previously said that the two sequels will be shot simultaneously, both of them directed by Gore Verbinski who also helmed the first film. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley from the first film will be joined by Stellan Skarsgård and Naomie Harris in the sequels. The first sequel is scheduled to premiere next summer.

Hans Zimmer's other upcoming scores include Batman Begins (written in association with James Newton Howard), The Ring Two, Madagascar, and Over the Hedge.

In related news, the score for The Ring was not released on CD at the time of release of Gore Verbinski's horror hit in 2002. Now, when the sequel premieres, Decca Records takes the opportunity to release music from both films on a score album coming out on March 15th.

Hans Zimmer was joined by Henning Lohner and Martin Tillman in the creation of the scores for the two films. The sequel, The Ring Two, is directed by Hideo Nakata, the creator of the original Japanese films. Naomi Watts returns in the new film, which takes off six months after the end of the story in the first film.
