Paramount Pictures and MGM have confirmed that a sequel to Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is in the works. The news comes on the same day that director Tommy Wirkola's fairy tale action-thriller crossed the $200 million plateau at the worldwide box office, a milestone which was integral in both studios deciding to make a sequel.

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as the title characters, 15 years after their nasty experience at the gingerbread house. While the two stars will most likely be back for seconds, their involvement has not been confirmed. It isn't known if writer-director Tommy Wirkola will be back at the helm. While the first movie made just $54 million at the domestic box office since opening in January, it has earned well over $150 million internationally for a current global tally of $205.8 million.

Beau Flynn is expected to return as producer, along with Gary Sanchez Productions principals Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Kevin J. Messick.
