While Harrison Ford is expected to return as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII, the actor will be making a comedic pit stop. Ford has signed on to appear in Anchorman: The Legend Continues, joining a cast that includes Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner.

Harrison Ford is portraying a legendary anchorman comparable to Tom Brokaw in this long-awaited comedy sequel. It isn't known how large his role will be. We reported last week that part of the story involves the Action 4 News team heading to New York City, so it's possible they meet up with this character during that trip to the Big Apple. The sequel also stars Kristen Wiig, Christina Applegate, James Marsden, Dylan Baker, and Meagan Good.

Adam McKay is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Will Ferrell. Judd Apatow and Kevin J. Messick are producing, with shooting scheduled to begin later this month in Atlanta.

Harrison Ford has three films coming out later this year, with 42 opening on April 12, Paranoia debuting on October 4, and Ender's Game arriving November 1. The actor previously played a news anchor in the 2010 Paramount comedy Morning Glory.
