Let the old man jokes begin! Harrison Ford was injured on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII today. He was taken to a local hospital as shooting continues as planned on J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated sequel.

Here is the official statement from Disney and LucasFilm:

Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.

An inside source close to the production claims that Harrison Ford was injured while shooting scenes on the Millennium Falcon. The door reportedly slammed down on his ankle. At least now we know there will be a scene where Han Solo is hurrying to get into the Falcon during some sort of chase...Or maybe he's too slow to make it inside before the ramp closes.

It isn't known how long it will be until Harrison Ford fully recuperates from this injury. The good news is that he is actually filming something in front of the camera as the production sets down in London for the bulk of its principal photography.

Robert Downey Jr. suffered a similar injury on the set of Iron Man 3, and it wasn't too long before he was back up and acting. Hopefully it won't be long before Harrison Ford is doing the same. The actor is said to be the second lead in the sci-fi adventure.
