Tom Felton recently opened up about his failed audition for Hitchcock, the 2012 biopic that starred Anthony Hopkins. The Harry Potter alum told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that even before his audition, "he knew he wasn't right for the role." Felton had never even seen Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, and the biopic revolved around the making of the classic horror film. Felton, who is British, recalled meeting actress Anna Faris at the audition, as she was also up for a role in the film:

"I was whispered to by Anna Faris on the way to the auditions, ‘He’s in there.’ Who’s in there? And I sat down across from Sir Anthony Hopkins and he knew straight away that I didn’t know what I was doing. He decided to go off book. He was like, ‘Let’s put the scene down. Let’s just test the water with the characters.’ And I proceeded to probably babble out the worst three minutes of improv in an awful American accent that anyone has ever seen." He added: "He [Hopkins] had a very graceful way of saying leave, which was, ‘Thanks very much for your time.’ I sheepishly tucked my tail and walked out that one."

Felton rose to popularity after portraying Draco Malfoy throughout the Harry Potter film series. Although the actor did not land the role in Psycho (neither did Faris), he went on to appear in films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, From the Rough and The Apparition, and as Doctor Alchemy on The CW's The Flash. He will next appear in Canyon del Muerto, a drama about the first female archeologist.

Tom Felton's Memoir

Emma Watson and Tom Felton

Felton recently added author to his resume and published Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard. Through his memoir, the actor opened up about substance abuse issues and his time working on the famous franchise. Felton, who is now 35, began drinking heavily in his 20s, which eventually led to an intervention from his loved ones that saw the actor go to rehab.

He also discussed his relationship with Harry Potter co-star and friend Emma Watson, who portrayed Hermione Granger. The two met while auditioning for the series' first installment as children, and they would go on to appear in all eight Harry Potter films. Felton wrote:

"I’ve always had a secret love for Emma, though not perhaps in the way that people might want to hear. That isn’t to say that there’s never been a spark between us. There most definitely has, only at different times." Later adding: "I don’t think I was ever in love with Emma, but I loved and admired her as a person in a way that I could never explain to anybody else … we were kindred spirits."

In January, the two appeared on the television special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
