For those who have not yet seen Eternals and would like its secrets to remain intact, then this may not be the article you are looking for. With that in mind, the mid-credit scene of Eternals brought with it the unexpected sight of One Director singer Harry Styles making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Eros, who also goes under the title of Starfox of Mystery Planet, is the brother of Thanos and Royal Prince of Titan. After making a grand entrance and being formally announced by Pip the Troll – voiced by Patton Oswalt and being a CGI character that has come under a fair amount of ridicule since the scene arrived in cinemas – Eros told a small remaining group of Eternals that their friends were in trouble and he can help to find them, and so ends the set up for a second Eternals movie, or at least part of it.

As we know with many of these roles, being in a mid or post-credit scene for a few minutes will usually lead to something bigger to come, so this is not going to be the last time we see Harry Styles’ Eros appear in the MCU, and he is likely destined for at least Eternals 2 and potentially other crossover movies that are still being planned. One thing Styles, who also starred in the war drama Dunkirk, wants to make sure is that everyone realizes just how appreciative he is to have worked on the movie with Marvel debutant director Chloe Zhao.

"I'm only in right at the very end," Styles explained to Dazed. "But who didn't grow up wanting to be a superhero, you know? It was a great experience, and I'm so grateful to have gotten to work with Chloé."

According to a previous interview by Zhao with Deadline, she personally chose Styles for the role of Starfox, who in the comic books has the power to control emotions and has the power of persuasion over people. The director said, "Harry as Eros was very much a package deal for me. I pitched the idea of Pip the Troll and Eros to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] a while back. I love the idea of exploring an Eternal who is beyond Titan and who may have influenced Thanos throughout the years the same way [the] Eternals influenced us, earthlings. It wasn't like I suggested Eros, and let's go find actors. I kept tabs on Harry since Dunkirk, I thought he was very interesting. After meeting him, I realized he is that character—the same way I cast the rest of my cast. There's so much of Eros in him. For me, if he says yes and Kevin says yes then it's a go. And I'm very happy they both did."

Eternals has spent a second week at the top of the box office despite being mauled in reviews and has continued to show the power of Marvel even in the face of a Rotten Tomatoes score that would have buried any other movie.
