It was confirmed in July that Steve Carell was leaving the hit NBC comedy series The Office after its seventh season. Now, according to E! Online, Harvey Keitel's name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Michael Scott as the head of Dunder/Mifflin's Scranton branch.

Executive producer Paul Lieberstein, who also plays Toby Flenderson on the show, revealed that Harvey Keitel is in serious contention for the role. Here's an excerpt from the site's article:

"Yes, absolutely," confirms Paul. "He's a real tough guy, but I saw him in Life on Mars and I saw a lot more comedy in his work, just little slivers of it, little things he would do that made me think he's capable of a lot more than what [he's done]."

However, Paul Lieberstein also revealed that he hasn't even spoken to Harvey Keitel about joining the show as a series regular yet:

"I haven't started any talks with his people, but Harvey would do a great job-a very different energy," Paul says. "And we don't want to bring in another Michael, having someone play a very similar character because we have such a high regard for Steve."

Of course, NBC has the final say in the matter of Steve Carell's replacement on The Office. It's likely we won't know for quite some time who that replacement will turn out to be. Especially since Harvey Keitel is just one of the many names that have already come up in terms of a new boss at Dunder/Mifflin.

We'll continue to keep you posted with any further details on The Office and who may or may not replace Steve Carell as soon as we have more information.
