Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio has fueled speculation regarding his potential return as the Marvel villain, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The actor, who last played the MCU baddie in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, recently took to social media to share an image of himself in the gym, with D’Onofrio looking suitably bulky and ready to once again fill the Kingpin’s beloved white suit.

“63 but who's counting,” D’Onofrio said in a caption alongside the image. While there has been no official confirmation that the actor will return as The Kingpin, it is certainly one of the more obvious interpretations of why D’Onofrio is back to bulking up.

The last audiences saw of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was during the events of the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Revealed to be the "uncle" of Maya Lopez AKA Echo (Alaqua Cox), it is heavily suggested that Kingpin comes face-to-face with a bullet courtesy of the deaf superhero. Of course, we do not see Kingpin’s body, which in comic book and TV terms means they will almost certainly be back. Besides, is a mere bullet enough to stop the Kingpin? Probably not.

Will Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin Return in the Disney+ Daredevil Series?

It has now been confirmed that Daredevil will return to dispense more vigilante justice courtesy of Disney+. There have been rumors of a Daredevil revival for some time, and the news of a new outing for the Man Without Fear was surely inevitable following Charlie Cox’s cameo as Matt Murdock in the hugely successful Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While details of the Daredevil revival remain under wraps at present, we know that Charlie Cox will once again suit up as the titular Marvel hero. Reports have since stated that the Disney+ Daredevil revival will be "the first of the Netflix Marvel shows to get a new but continued series," which heavily suggests that the new Daredevil show will consider everything that happened on Netflix as canon. With Cox on board, and Netflix being considered canon, it stands to reason that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will also return — which would explain why the actor has decided to tease his hard work and large frame via social media.

While we await further news of Disney’s Daredevil series, further rumors have suggested that audiences may see both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk before the revival. The resume of a costume designer recently surfaced and hints that both Murdock and Fisk will be part of the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off, Echo.

Hawkeye star Alaqua Cox will reprise her role as Maya Lopez aka Echo, with the series beginning when Lopez returns to her hometown. She must come to terms with her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace her family and community. Considering her ties with both Wilson Fisk and Daredevil, the Echo series would certainly be the perfect place to bring both characters back again before spawning their own revival series.

Echo is scheduled to be released in 2023 on Disney+. Until more Daredevil news comes to light, Marvel has plenty of other shows set for release on Disney+ including Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, a series set in Wakanda, an untitled Halloween special, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
