Has a second season of Hawkeye now been confirmed by Disney? The speculation over such a surprise comes courtesy of a Disney Studios Awards listing, which puts Hawkeye as a comedy series on their For Your Consideration site ahead of Emmy nominations. It was expected that Hawkeye would be submitted for Emmy consideration under the Limited Series banner, but it seems that Disney has changed tack, instead opting to list Hawkeye in categories that are usually chosen for shows expected to continue.
While the Limited Series category is often dominated by shows that end up carrying on anyway, it seems that Hawkeye has skipped this entirely, instead putting the Marvel series forward for Outstanding Comedy Series, Directing for a Comedy Series, as well as recognition for performances by leads Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld among others. These categories are usually reserved for shows that are set to continue beyond one season, with many concluding that this means Marvel Studios is planning for further adventures featuring Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in a Hawkeye Season 2.
Some of the recent Marvel shows released on Disney+, including Loki, Hawkeye and Moon Knight, have been planned as one-and-done outings. Loki has already been confirmed to return, and now, rather surprisingly, Hawkeye could be next. While Moon Knight seems the most obvious show to be given a continuation, it looks like Hawkeye may be first out the gate. Arguably, Hawkeye would work well as a standalone adventure for the former Avenger and his protégé, thanks largely to its insular story and festive setting, but it seems that the creatives at Marvel may have conjured a reason to bring them back for more.

Hawkeye takes Marvel fans on an unexpected holiday getaway, picking up in a post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. While this should be more than possible for the man who fought alongside the likes of Thor and Iron Man, it proves more difficult than first thought, with Barton needing the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The pair is forced to work together when a presence from Barton's past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld as Clint Barton and Kate Bishop respectively, Hawkeye also features Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, and Brian d'Arcy James, with Fra Fee joining the MCU as the villainous Kazi alongside Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez AKA Echo, a deaf superhero who can perfectly copy another person's movements and will soon become the subject of her own spin-off Disney+ series.
Whether a second season of Hawkeye comes to fruition remains to be seen, but even so it is unlikely that the Disney+ series will be the last time audiences see Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. "There are always new stories to be told, especially with Clint Barton,” Hawkeye producer Trinh Tran said last year. “There is so much more to explore. We'll just have to wait and see what happens, but it's amazing to work with Jeremy. He loves his character, He's the only person who really knows who Clint Barton is. I think there are possibilities. We'll see."
