It has been rumored that fans will finally get a full Star Wars: Episode VII cast /star-wars-7-news-coming-as-harrison-ford-carrie-fisher-and-mark-hamill-are-spotted-in-london/list on Sunday, May 4, which is known by fans around the world as Star Wars Day. While we wait for that all-important announcement, Zac Efron has now hinted that he may have a role in this highly anticipated sci-fi sequel.

Doing press with UK's News 5 for his upcoming comedy Neighbors (which is apparently titled Bad Neighbors overseas), he explains that he does have a couple of 'irons in the fire'. But will he actually land a role?

"I don't know. I have no idea on that. I don't know. There are irons in the fire, so to speak. I don't like to talk about anything too early, because it takes awhile to get these things done right. Who knows?"

This isn't the first time we've heard Zac Efron's name pop up in regards to Star Wars: Episode VII. We reported in June that both Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling were being considered for roles in director J.J. Abrams' highly-anticipated sequel. There was speculation that Zac Efron was being eyed to play the son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), while Ryan Gosling was in contention to play the son of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Zac Efron did eventually confirm that he read for a Star Wars: Episode VII role. It seems he is still in the running for that role, even with production set to begin in May.

Naturally, nothing has been confirmed at this time, but perhaps we'll get the answers we've all been waiting for on May 4. Zac Efron will next be seen in Neighbors, alongside Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, in theaters May 9. He also recently signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of John Grisham's novel, The Associate.
