If you have seen any of the trailers for Hawkeye thus far, then you would know that the series is drenched in Christmas cheer. The series is coming out this holiday season and Marvel is really leaning into this, with much of the marketing honing in on the holiday spirit. In a new promo, Hawkeye stars Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner compete to see who can wrap the best Christmas gift.

Initially, Jeremy Renner says that while "we are not expert archers in real life, we do happen to be expert wrappers" to which Steinfeld has to clarify which kind of wrappers he meant. The two then compete to see who can create the best-looking gift with just a standard wooden box. Of course, Renner, who has played Clint Barton aka Hawkeye since Thor, ends up using some archery to wrap the gift. His final wrapping contains two arrows stabbed through the top.

The present presented by Hailee Steinfeld is a bit more neat with a nice, red bow on top along with a Hawkeye action figure that adds to the Marvel aesthetic of the gift. The two end up calling it a draw but this brief promo may be a hint of the competitive chemistry that we will see between Barton and newcomer Kate Bishop (Steinfeld) throughout the series.

The Hawkeye series will see Kate Bishop and Clint Barton teaming up to take down an enemy from Barton's past. An extended clip was shown during Disney+ Day as part of the Marvel Studios' 2021 Disney+ Day celebration that featured an awesome 360 one-shot of the two characters in a fast-paced car chase. Bishop and Barton already seemed to be getting competitive over who would be driving and who would be shooting arrows.

Hawkeye will also explore the consequences of Barton's days as Ronin before everyone came back during the blip. Here is the official synopsis for the Disney+ series.

"Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway with Hawkeye}, a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton's past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit."

So, it seems like Barton has retired from being an Avenger, however, he has already come out of retirement a couple of times such as Captain America: Civil War. You can't ever run from your past and Barton's past appears to be catching up with him. It's unclear who this villain is but we do know from the B lack Widow post-credit scene that Yelena (Florence Pugh) is on the hunt for Barton. Still, It's doubtful that she's the main villain. To see if Barton has a merry Christmas with his family, we will have to wait until Hawkeye lands on Disney+.

The first two episodes of Hawkeye will stream on Disney+ on Nov. 24. The episodes will then drop weekly until the series' finale on Dec. 22.
