When it comes to Mission: Impossible stunts, Tom Cruise is well known for giving his all to making the movie’s action sequences come to life. However recently Hayley Atwell shared a video of her own intense training for her role in Mission: Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 1, and it is every bit as scary as her co-star’s stunts. Atwell joins Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg who all reprise their roles in the franchise as they this time take on Esau Morales as the film’s bad guy.

Hayley Atwell has made a name for herself in action movies, not least as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role that was most recently been seen turned on its head as she starred as the live-action iteration of Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Having first appeared way back in Captain America: The First Avenger, Atwell has gone on to appear in numerous other movies, her own series called Agent Carter, as a voice-over in the animated What If…? series and also appeared in two episodes of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.

While many of her previous roles have required some level of fitness and training, it seems that her Mission: Impossible debut has required the actress to push herself just that little bit harder as she showed in her behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. Check out the video below.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Could Be The End Of Tom Cruise’s Run

It was originally expected that Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 would be the swan song for the long-running Tom Cruise franchise, but there has now been some doubt cast over this being correct. While the first details of the latest addition to the franchise gave off the sense of a big send-off to Ethan Hunt, the movie’s director recently suggested that nothing Cruise does is ever set in stone and this may not be the last time he is seen dangling from planes and jumping from movie vehicles.

“Let me tell you, I’ve been working with Tom Cruise for 15 years and I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve been standing next to the man, witnessed an event and then read about it in the trades the next day and none of what they describe is actually true... When you read articles in the trades, just put the imaginary word in front of the headline: ‘The Agenda Is…’ When you read ‘anonymous sources’ or ‘sources close to the production say,’ that’s somebody putting it out there for a specific reason. That’s someone wanting others to think that for a specific reason, and you can never know for sure what those reasons are. You learn to ignore it and laugh at it. In today’s world, you wait 17 minutes and another news cycle will sweep it away.”

Whether these do turn out to be Cruise’s last outings as Hunt or not, it is clear that he, Hayley Atwell and the rest of the team are making sure that Mission: Impossible 7 - Dead Reckoning Part 1 is going to hit theaters with a bang when it is released on July 14, 2023.
