HBO has bought the inspirational tale, Hurricane Season, a project about a football team's unlikely triumph in post-Katrina New Orleans for State Street Pictures and Adelstein Productions.

The show is based on the Neal Thompson book about the John Curtis Christian School football team, which in the fall of 2005 overcame poverty, homelessness and other hardships to win the state championship, says Variety.

John Romano is attached to write Hurricane Season, which is due out this summer.
