Selena Gomez is on fire these days. In addition to her beauty line Rare doing spectacularly, the renewal of her hit Hulu show Only Murders in the Building alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin, the success of her most recent single, Single Soon, and being the host on an SNL episode not too long ago, there’s more in store for this former Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place star as her show, Selena + Chef, is gearing up to explore an uncharted network!

We know nothing about whether another season will ever go back to being a MAX exclusive, as the specials will still be on the streaming service, but not solely. Instead, Selena will also be teaming up with Food Network for two spin-off holiday specials under the Selena + Chef name:

“The holidays are always huge for Food Network,” Kathleen Finch, Warner Bros. Discovery Chairman and Chief Content Officer US Networks, said on May 17th during a studio presentation, which happened in New York. “Having Selena kicking off the nearly 100 hours of new and returning holiday programming will certainly make this coming season one to celebrate.”

One of the two new Selena Gomez series at Food Network is called Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays, slated to be aired during the 2023 holiday season on November 30. It is a twist on the MAX series, and the four-part special will see Gomez getting into the festive spirit with celebrity chefs such as Eric Adjepong, Alex Guarnaschelli, Michael Symon, and Claudette Zepeda. These chefs will each be showing Gomez how to replicate their favorite holiday season cuisine, as well as bonding with the global superstar over new and shared festivities.

“With an incredible festive programming slate all season long, Food Network is the holiday destination for viewers and their families,” said Betsy Ayala, head of content for food at Warner Bros. Discovery. “Offering special culinary moments is the way Food Network celebrates the holidays, so to have superstar Selena Gomez, who has more than 650 million fans on social media, open the door to her own home kitchen is a holiday dream come true for fans.”

Gomez herself had the following to say about the exciting partnership:

“The holidays have always meant so much to me. It was an honor to have these amazing chefs in my kitchen to introduce some of their favorite foods and what makes the holidays special for them,” Gomez said in a straight-from-the-source statement to Variety.

Selena + Chef's Other Series: What Do We Know?

We know that the second series Gomez will be shooting with Food Network will not be airing until sometime next year in 2024, possibly around the same ballpark as this year's holiday series in late November. It will feature the familiar format: Selena Gomez teaming up with popular chefs, and those chefs will work alongside Gomez to create a dish. These dishes will be the personal favorites of those chefs. The comeback of the series is sure to be a success because of the star's name value and could possibly spark another kitchenware collaboration with Always Pan. The collaboration was also a success, so that brings even more incentive to partner with Gomez a third time.

We have to remember that Gomez is always expressed as a joy to work with, which is a testament to the series' longevity. One of the chefs that appeared on the show was MasterChef judge Tanya Holland, who appeared in the first season to teach Gomez a gourmet recipe for cheddar scallion biscuits and buttermilk fried chicken. In an interview with the publication Mashed a couple of years ago, Holland opened up about her experience on the show and what it was to be teaching Selena Gomez those recipes. "I just thought she was really kind and sweet. And curious, and wanted to learn, and wanted to do something really well," she said.

Like we mentioned before, Home for the Holidays will not be exclusive to the MAX streaming service this time around. For a change, the series will be expanding its horizons and taking on the Food Network. This is to capitalize on the star power of Gomez and will allow her to fully tap into the holiday spirit for the first time ever on Selena + Chef. MAX remains the home for Selena + Chef, but the obligations have clearly changed since the last season.

Hulu has officially renewed Only Murders in the Building for a fourth season.

Home for the Holidays will be released on November 30 on both networks simultaneously, while information on the untitled second series is still limited, but will also be airing on Food Network and MAX. It is possible the next series could also have something to do with the holidays; perhaps another timeframe of holidays, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving, but this is all pure speculation from fans for now and will remain just that until it is confirmed by insiders.
