The creator of The Wire's new HBO series has already secured a second season, just days after the series premiere aired. Variety is reporting that HBO has handed out a second season order for Treme.

David Simon's new series just premiered on the network on Sunday night, drawing a solid 1.1 million viewers and astounding critical reviews. The series revolves around the post-Hurricane Katrina life in the city of New Orleans.

Treme stars Wendell Pierce, Khandi Alexander, Clarke Peters, Rob Brown, Steve Zahn, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, John Goodman, Michiel Huisman, Lucia Micarelli and the series airs on Sunday nights at 10 PM ET on HBO.
