Vintage Books publicist Sloane Crosley has had her bestselling collection of essays I Was Told There'd Be Cake picked up for a small screen series by HBO. According to Variety, Crosley was initially opposed to turning her collected works into a weekly program for the pay cable network.
The essays range in topic from accidentally amassing a collection of plastic ponies to locking herself out of her apartment twice on the same day. Sloane says that the series will have "more of a (Curb Your Enthusiasm) vibe than a Sex and the City vibe."
The series does not have a set start date at this time.
