Game of Thrones is preparing to continue expanding its universe with a series centered on one of the franchise's most popular characters, Jon Snow. Although the show might not be as assured as fans believed.

After the enormous success of House of the Dragon, which proved to be just as good as the original series based on the works of George R. R. Martin, HBO did not hesitate to continue advancing with other projects related to the franchise, such as the A Knight of the Dragon Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight series, based on The Tales of Dunk and Egg. Among the other stories being considered is a Jon Snow-focused show, which will work as a sequel to Game of Thrones, unlike the other productions. Initially, it seemed that it would be one of the projects that would reach the screen really soon, but now things have changed.

Speaking with Deadline, HBO's drama chief Francesca Orsi revealed that while they are still working on the series, they are not yet sure that it will be released:

"We’re just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way."

Jon Snow is one of the great heroes of Martin's story, especially within the series, where Kit Harington became one of the absolute protagonists of the main plot, having one of the greatest adventures and a more than relevant story arc that led him to discover his Targaryen origins.

In the series finale, Jon returned to the North and went beyond the wall to live with the Wildlings, and it is surely that life and his adventures away from Winterfell and Westeros that his show will follow.

What Other Game of Thrones Spinoff Will Come in the Future?

House of the Dragon - Corlys Velaryon
HBO

Following the announcement of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, Martin confirmed that the two previously announced animated series were also still in development. There aren't too many details about one of them, but the other is The Golden Empire, which will tell the story of Yi Ti, a forgotten place in a corner of Essos.

Yiti was, in fact, one of the places visited by Corlys Velaryon on his voyages on the high seas. The character we met in House of the Dragon is known as The Sea Snake, which will be the title of one of the future series of the franchise that will focus precisely on his adventures.

Princess Nymeria of Dorne could be another of the protagonists of a future Game of Thrones spinoff. Her series, which currently bears the name of 10,000 Ships, will tell the adventures of the ancestor of House Martell as the leader of a fleet of ships that leave Essos after his expulsion by the Targaryens.

There are still many other characters and tales from Martin that HBO could pick to adapt to the screen, so the world of Game of Thrones has a lot of material to continue expanding.
