We spoke with Kevin Eastman last year who gave us some updates on the Heavy Metal film project and now it seems there is finally a new update. Deadline New York is reporting that the project is being shopped around once more.

We also reported last year that James Cameron was set to direct a segment of the film and that report also listed Zack Snyder, Gore Verbinski, Mark Osborne and Jack Black as segment directors as well. While this new story only lists Cameron and Snyder, but it was said that the film will consist of, "eight or nine individual animated segments, each by a different director, all of them infused with the spirit of the erotic and violent storylines that defined the magazine." It was also said the film will be shot for 3D animation.

Director David Fincher, who will also direct a segment for the film, is spearheading the film, as it is seeking financing and distribution at this time. We'll be sure to keep you posted with more updates on this highly-anticipated Heavy Metal film as soon as we have more information.
