Helena Bonham Carter is confirmed to return as The Red Queen in the sequel to 2010's Alice in Wonderland, titled Through the Looking Glass. She will be reuniting with Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

James Bobin, the director behind the upcoming sequel Muppets Most Wanted, will be taking the helm, with Joe Roth returning to produce for Disney.

Plot details are being kept secret for the time being, as the sequel prepares for a May 27, 2016 release date. At this time, it is not known if other actors, such as Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover and Alan Rickman will also be back to reprise their roles.

The original Alice in Wonderland was a mega-blockbuster for Disney, pulling in $334 million domestically and over a billion dollars worldwide.
