Dimension Films has set writer Todd Farmer and director Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3D) to revive the Hellraiser franchise.

According to Variety, the original Hellraiser from 1987 was based on the Clive Barker novel about a family who moves into a new house and are terrorized by demons known as Cenobites.

Hellraiser's notorious villain Pinhead was played by Doug Bradley, though it hasn't been decided if Doug Bradley would return.

The reboot will be an origins story.

Production is expected to get under way next year for a late 2011 or early 2012 release.
