Filming has begun in San Francisco on the HBO Films production Hemingway & Gellhorn, starring Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Clive Owen ("Closer," "Children of Men") and Academy Award and three-time Golden Globe winner Nicole Kidman ("The Hours," "Rabbit Hole") in the title roles. Directed by multiple Academy Award nominee Philip Kaufman ("The Unbearable Lightness of Being," "The Right Stuff") from a script by Jerry Stahl ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Permanent Midnight"), along with Barbara Turner ("The Company," "Pollock"), the film also stars Academy Award nominee David Strathairn ("Good Night, and Good Luck," Emmy Award winner for HBO Films' "Temple Grandin"), SAG Award nominee Molly Parker ("The Road," HBO's "Deadwood"), Rodrigo Santoro ("I Love You Phillip Morris," "300"), Golden Globe nominee Parker Posey ("Superman Returns," "A Mighty Wind"), actor-musician Lars Ulrich ("Get Him To The Greek," member of Metallica), Santiago Cabrera ("Che: Part 1," "Heroes"), Saverio Guerra ("Lucky You," "Becker"), Emmy Award nominee Peter Coyote ("Erin Brockovich," "Law & Order"), multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Diane Baker ("Silence of the Lambs," "Joy Luck Club") and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub ("Monk," HBO's "Too Big to Fail").

Various locations in and around San Francisco will be used to represent Key West, Spain, China, Cuba and New York.
Scheduled to debut on HBO in 2012, Hemingway & Gellhorn recounts the tumultuous romance and subsequent marriage of literary master Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen) and up-and-coming war correspondent Martha Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman), following them through the Spanish Civil War and beyond. As she grew in reputation and stature, Gellhorn stood toe-to-toe with Hemingway, putting his famous bravado and iconic style to the test.
