Henry Cavill is currently officially free of his comic book role as Superman, but fans already are imagining what he could do as a popular upcoming Marvel character. There has previously been speculation about Cavill joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mr Fantastic in the Fantastic Four movie, and now a piece of fan art has made it a reality by imaging Cavill as the leader of Marvel’s first family.

Recently Cavill has stepped away from two major franchises. Last month it was announced that Cavill will be leaving The Witcher after next year’s third season, with Liam Hemsworth already in place to take over the role of Geralt of Rivia from season four. This month, Cavill’s time as Superman in the DCU came to an unexpected end only weeks after his Black Adam cameo suggested that he would be playing a big part in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s future plans for the franchise. This turned out not to be the case, and though Gunn has hinted at Cavill’s possible involvement in the franchise, he has not elaborated on what this could entail.

Despite recently announcing his Warhammer 4000 series at Prime Video, Cavill could possibly choose to make a long-awaited move into the MCU. While there are many characters he could play, fans certainly have their idea of who they would like him to play. You can see the full image of Cavill as Mr Fantastic below.

Is John Krasinski Not Playing Mr. Fantastic in the MCU?

Well, that is a question that everyone is waiting to find out the answer to. Of course, fan-favorite John Krasinski has already appeared as Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While this was a variant of the character encountered by Strange as part of the Illuminati, there have been many indicators that in many cases the multiverse versions of each character is the same person. This has been true of the many versions of the doctor himself, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Wanda Maximoff. Others such as Captain Marvel and Captain America were alternative versions, with Monica Rambeau having taken on the mantle of Captain Marvel while Steve Rogers’ Captain America was replaced with Captain Carter.

However, while there are a number of MCU fans who would like Krasinski to get a longer run as Mr. Fantastic, the actor has previously said that no talks for a long-term role as the character have been discussed. This leaves the role up for grabs, and with no casting announcements yet made there is still plenty of speculation over who will be playing the third big-screen iteration of the Fantastic Four.

While there could certainly be an appearance by members of the Fantastic Four in other upcoming movies, their first full movie comes to cinemas on February 14, 2025, at the start of Phase Six and will no doubt have a big part to play in the Avengers movies that will close off the Multiverse Saga in 2026.
