Universal Studios Consumer Products has announced the first licensing partners tapped to create merchandise based on NBC's new hit series Heroes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
DC Comics, Random House, Mezco Toyz and Topps are among the licensees who will develop trading cards, apparel, stationery/social expression products and action figures based on the show. Initial Heroes merchandise will begin to appear on shore shelves in time for the series' new season launch on Sept. 24.
Universal Consumer Products said the Heroes merchandise will "capitalize" on the storylines in the show, and in some instances, extend the story beyond what is seen on television.
Earlier this week, Ubisoft announced that they are partnering with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms to create an interactive video game based on Heroes that could be in stores as soon as late 2008.
