While NBC still hasn't set a return date for Heroes Reborn, casting is already under way, with original Heroes star Jack Coleman set /heroes-star-jack-coleman-returns-for-nbcs-heroes-reborn/to return as "HRG" in the event series, and Zachary Levi joining the cast in an important but unspecified role earlier this month. BuzzFeed writer Kate Arthur caught up with Zachary Quinto, who played Sylar in the original NBC series, at the Sundance Film Festival, with the actor revealing that he will not be back for Heroes Reborn. Here's what he had to say:

"I'm not going back. [Series creator] Tim [Kring] reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me - I loved that job, I loved those people. I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it. Tim was very, very understanding and supportive. I'm thrilled that they're doing it. I'm thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. And I know they just cast Zach Levi, which is great. I mean, it's a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself."

NBC ordered 13 episodes for the event series back in February, although it still isn't clear when production will begin at this time. No specific plot details were released at this time, but Tim Kring revealed in a July interview that the show will largely center on new characters and plot ideas, with original characters returning, "only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world." NBC will also launch a digital series prior to Heroes Reborn's debut, which will introduce the new characters and story lines.
