Actress Hilary Duff recently sat down with TV host Andy Cohen on his program Watch What's Happens Live with Andy Cohen to discuss her life and career. Among the topics included a possible revival of the show that made her famous nearly 19 years after its end: Lizzie McGuire.

According to a report by Vulture, Hilary Duff answered that if it fit with her goal to play a more mature Lizzie, she'd be open to returning to the popular early 2000s series. When the host asked why a previous 2020 attempt to resurrect the show had not come to fruition, Hilary Duff responded by saying that at the time of Lizzie McGuire's reboot talks, "Disney+ was very new, you know. And I think they were like figuring out their — and we were figuring out our — and like, and so — I am optimistic."

Since its 2001 air date on the Disney Channel and subsequent end in 2004, the Lizzie McGuire show has been a favorite with fans for many years. The show followed the day-to-day adventures of an average teenage girl named Lizzie McGuire, played by Hilary Duff; Lizzie's true feelings and ideas were revealed through her witty, animated persona. She attended a regular school with her closest friends, David "Gordo" Gordon and Miranda Sanchez.

In 2003 a movie was spawned aptly titled The Lizzie McGuire Movie. In the film, Hilary Duff's character, Lizzie McGuire, embarks on a school trip to Rome during summer break. Soon after her arrival, Lizzie meets Paolo Valisari, played by Yani Gellman, a famous musician whose duet partner resembles Lizzie. Due to a falling out between the musicians, Lizzie agrees to fill in for the girl during a concert where she pretends to sing while a recording is played. From there, chaos, drama, hilarity, and romance ensue.
