When last she spoke about her fan-favorite Kick-Ass character Hit-Girl, star of the franchise Chloe Moretz claimed that Kick-Ass 3 was dead, blaming the sequel's demise on piracy. Now, director of the original Matthew Vaughn is singing a different tune. Not only does he think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, but he believes it should be proceeded by a Hit-Girl prequel movie.

Sure, Chloe Moretz has stated that she is pretty much done with the young vigilante Mindy McCready. But speaking with JoBlo, Matthew Vaughn (who is currently promoting his latest film as a director, Kingsman: The Secret Service) believes he can convince the young actress to come back and once again don the iconic purple mini-skirt.

"Do you know what's going to be next if I do it... we've finished plotting it. What we have to do is, we've got to do the First Class to the Kick-Ass world. We lost a few fans on Kick-Ass 2. It wasn't as loved as one would've hoped. So we have this idea for a Hit-Girl prequel. It's a really strong, really simple prequel where I think we can regain the love and the passion. If that happens, I'm pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Ass with Kick-Ass 3".

Chloe Moretz recently turned 18, so she is a little old to star in a Hit-Girl prequel. But Matthew Vaughn may be talking about a lean, cut-down prequel to Kick-Ass 3 that solely focuses on Mindy. Otherwise, he will have to find a new actor to come in and take over the role of Hit-Girl, if it is a true prequel following her exploits with her father Damon, originally played by Nicolas Cage.

Matthew Vaughn later stated that he would not direct this prequel himself. He is looking for someone like Gareth Evans, the director of the action cult hit The Raid: Redemption and its sequel The Raid 2.

"A really bold, clever director. Most of it is set in the far east."

What do you think? Do you want to see a standalone Hit-Girl movie directed by Gareth Evans? Or do you want the whole gang back in Kick-Ass 3? Are you even excited that this franchise is not completely dead just yet? Let us known your thoughts!
