/tina-fey-to-produce-possibly-star-in-hocus-pocus-2-with-melissa-mccarthy/Back in July, it was reported that Tina Fey was set to produce and possibly star in a Hocus Pocus sequel. Shortly thereafter, she clarified that her Disney witch movie was not, in fact, Hocus Pocus 2, but an entirely different witch movie altogether. This disappointed many fans, who have long been clamoring for a follow up to the 1993 magical comedy starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.

The initial report did prove to Disney that there is still a hungry fan base for this comedy, which could become a franchise is allowed. Fans aren't the only ones that want to see the return of Witches Winifred, Sarah and Mary. So does the original cast. Bette Midler participated in a Reddit AMA, where she revealed that she has discussed the matter with her co-stars (though she doesn't name any specific names), and they are game for a sequel.

"Inundate the Disney company. Because I have canvassed the girls and they are wiling to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a 'Hocus Pocus 2 ask the Walt Disney company."

So, it sounds like Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are ready to hit this playground once again, and want to return. Now it's up to the fans to make their voices heard. She says that's all that can be done at this current moment in time:

"You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company. The ball's in their court."

Someone also asked about a sequel to the 1996 hit The First Wive's Club. She explains:

Oh, I thought you were going to say Hocus Pocus again! Oh it's so funny, they didn't want to make a sequel. It made over $100 million, and they couldn't be bothered."

While Hocus Pocus was not a smash hit upon its release in 1993, pulling in less than $40 million during its theatrical run, it has become a home video, DVD and now streaming mainstay that continues to find its followers. If you truly want to see the girls return, you better start your petitions now. As this is Disney, it's possible that they could eventually do a straight-to-VOD sequel with none of the original stars returning. That's probably not what the fans want. though.
