They’re back, witches. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy return as the trio of witches the Sanderson sisters in the first trailer and poster for the upcoming Disney sequel, Hocus Pocus 2. Released courtesy of Walt Disney Studios, the trailer resurrects the villainous threesome once again after all these years, as they wreak havoc in present-day Salem. And all on Disney+. You can check out the new trailer below.

It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve. Alongside the trailer, a newly released poster offers another haunting look at the return of the Sanderson sisters.

It has been almost 30 years since the Sanderson sisters were last unleashed. Introduced in the treasured 1993 outing, Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star as Winifred "Winnie" Sanderson, Sarah Sanderson, and Mary Sanderson, three witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a virgin teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night. Well, after all these years, they’re back, and the trio has clearly not lost any of the comedic charm and villainous terror that has helped the first Hocus Pocus achieve cult classic status.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reunite for the highly anticipated Disney+ original movie Hocus Pocus 2, the live-action, long-awaited sequel to the perennial Halloween classic, which brings back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters for more comedic mayhem. Hocus Pocus 2 also stars Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl), Lilia Buckingham (Dirt), Belisa Escobedo (American Horror Stories), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Tony Hale (Veep), Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War, Good Boys), Juju Brener (Vanquish), Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), Taylor Paige Henderson and Nina Kitchen.

Hocus Pocus 2 is directed by Anne Fletcher (Dumplin,’ The Proposal), written by Jen D’Angelo (Happy Together, Workaholics), and produced by Lynn Harris (King Richard, The Shallows), with Adam Shankman (Disenchanted, Hairspray), Ralph Winter (Hocus Pocus, X-Men franchise) and David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Chucky) serving as executive producers.

Fans have long awaited a sequel to the first Hocus Pocus, and hopefully, this trailer has them all excited to see the trio of witches resurrected all over again. Unfortunately, despite the return of several prominent members from the first beloved outing, there will be one notable absence from Hocus Pocus 2: Thora Birch’s Dani Dennison.

"Everybody tried so hard. Everybody tried so hard to make that happen and it just didn't, but everybody tried so hard,” Birch said of not appearing in the sequel. “That was everybody's intention. But you know what? At the end of the day, just between you and I, I'd probably rather play Winifred in the future. I'd probably rather play Winnie."

Hocus Pocus 2 is all set to debut on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
