Actress Angela Bassett presented the Humanitarian Award to Sid Ganis, who has served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences since 2005. Ganis, Founder of Out of the Blue Entertainment, most recently produced the feature film Akeelah and the Bee, which co-starred Ms. Bassett and the fabulous Laurence Fishburne.

Dawn Taubin, President of Marketing at Warner Brothers ,was also lauded. She recently oversaw the marketing of two Academy Award winning hits, The Departed and Happy Feet, giving the studio the rare distinction of winning Oscars for Best Picture and Best Animated Feature in the same year. Nice to see that big wigs in our industry are helping youth learn skills that will led to productive lifestyle, free of gangs, drugs and poverty that surround them.
|Days of our Lives stars, Nadia Bjorlin & Brandon Beemer with author, Tom Kennedy "The Twelve"|
A screen legend of another era, Mamie Van Doren invited us to the launch of her collectible limited edition bottles of wine at Eleven Restaurant in West Hollywood. Arriving atop the sunroof of a brand new 2008 Hot Rod Magnum, created by George Barris, Celebrity Detailer to the Stars, Mamie was greeted by 100 VIPS, including Michael's Jackson's attorney, Tom Messerau, Supermodel Veruschka, the Mayor & City Council of West Hollywood , PR wiz Edward Lozzi, and Oscar Torres, star of Cane on CBS.
|Marci interviewing Amazing Race contestants, Lorena Segura & Jason Widener|
We were there with our camera crew taping interviews for Hollywood Marci, and were pleased that the young models from America's Most Smartest Models were in attendance, as well as Lorena Segura and Jason Widener from the Amazing Race. Although the attractive couple was eliminated from winning the race, their relationship is still going strong.

Mamie is the only surviving member of the trio of blonde bombshells in the 50's known as "The Three M's - Mamie, Monroe and Mansfield, and at the age of 75, she looks amazing. You can witness this for yourself if you purchase one of the collectible Mamitage wine bottles -- as they feature nude photos of her, which peel away when the label is removed. In case you actually want to sample the wine, it is a delicious Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, made and bottled by Armida Winery. For further info, check out her website, www.mamievandoren.com.
And last, but not least, we are a great fan of horror stories, so were pleased to attend the booksigning for screenwriter/filmmaker Tom Kennedy and his debut novel, The Twelve. This tome involves the killing of Beverly Hills billionaires and in written in a suspenseful Stephen King style -- an accolade bestowed by Kirkus Reviews. Among the celebs enjoying such appetizers as mini beef Wellingtons, empanadas and mini cheese pizzas, at Citizen Smith (Hollywood's new hot spot), were Brenda Dickson (Young & The Restless), Nadia Bjorlin & Brandon Beemer (Days of our Lives) and Lorielle New (Grind House). Knowing a few B.H. Billionaires myself, who I'd love to see eliminated, should be an interesting read on the Hollywood Beat.
